E-Learning
Southeastern Technical College offers a number of e-learning opportunities. Many students find the online environment a convenient way to fit education into their busy lives.
E-Learning Options
- Online: Courses designated as online are delivered via the Internet utilizing the ANGEL learning management system. Students will be issued a secure login and password, verifying the identity of each student. All online courses have at least one proctored event*. This event is at least 20% of the course grade and may be an exam, presentation or other event as defined by the instructor. Students not attending this event will be withdrawn from the course with a grade of WF. The minimum requirements for students to participate in an online course are access to a computer, a reliable broadband Internet connection, and motivation to succeed in a nontraditional classroom setting.
- Interactive Audio-Video Conferencing (Polycom): Courses are taught by STC instructors broadcasting the class from one campus to another campus using the latest video and audio equipment to deliver instruction for a regularly scheduled class.
- Hybrid: Courses meet one or more days per week in the classroom and also require work online. At least 60% of your work will be conducted in the classroom with the remainder of the work being conducted online.
- Web-Enhanced: Courses meet regularly during the week and are supplemented with online activities, assignments, or homework.
Students considering online courses should discuss this possibility with their advisor. Online learning requires discipline, motivation and computer skills to be successful.
For more information on online courses, visit the Online Learning section of the STC website.
*Southeastern Technical College does not charge any additional distance education fees. The only additional fee a student may incur is a proctoring charge if an event is proctored by a college or facility other than Southeastern Tech. As published on STC’s website and in STC’s Catalog and Handbook, any expenses incurred to obtain a proctor will be the responsibility of the student. Most of Georgia’s technical colleges do not charge to proctor exams for students enrolled in other TCSG colleges. Students enrolled at Southeastern Technical College and live out of the state of Georgia or out of the country could incur a proctoring charge. However, in that instance, the instructor would work to locate a proctor which would administer the proctored event free of charge or for the lowest possible expense to the student.
